Nickname Symbols for Games ꧁ ꧂ — Generator & Copy

Nickname symbols are the brackets, stars and small marks people put around a game name or display name, such as ꧁ ꧂, 【 】, 彡 and ᴳᴼᴰ. Type your name below and the nickname symbol generator frames it in 24 styles; every style is plain Unicode text you can copy into a game, Discord or a bio.

Symbols a username field accepts

The single most useful thing to know: most apps have two name fields. The @username (handle) is strict and accepts only plain letters, numbers and a couple of marks; the display name, bio or in-game name is relaxed and accepts nickname symbols. Put the decoration where it is allowed.

Brackets for a game tag

A game tag is a short label — a clan, a team or a role — wrapped in brackets before or after the name. Asian corner and lenticular brackets (「 」, 【 】, 『 』) are the most widely supported, because every phone ships Chinese and Japanese fonts. Maths brackets such as ⟬ ⟭ and ⦇ ⦈ look sharper but fail on more devices.

Why my decorated name was rejected

When a game or app refuses a decorated name, it is almost always one of four reasons:

  • The field is a username field. Move the symbols to the display name (see the table above).
  • The name is too long. Many games count the hidden units of a character, not what you see — styled letters such as 𝐍 count as two each.
  • A character is on a block list. Games often block invisible characters, emoji or whole scripts to stop impersonation.
  • The filter found a word. Some filters turn styled letters back into plain ones before checking for banned words.

The quickest fix is to remove one symbol at a time until the name is accepted, starting with the rarest one.

Name length and decorative characters

Decoration eats into a name limit faster than it looks. This table shows how many characters you see and how many UTF-16 units — the count many games and apps actually use — a few frames take.

𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐚 looks like four letters but uses eight units, because maths bold letters live outside the basic character range. With a 12-character limit, that difference decides whether a name fits.

Symbols that break a name on other platforms

A name that looks right on your phone can break for someone else. Rare scripts (Egyptian hieroglyphs such as 𓊈 𓊉, Bamum such as 𖣘) are missing from many older Android phones and Windows PCs, so other players see empty boxes. Combining marks, like the small letters in ༺Leͥgeͣnͫd༻, can drift onto the wrong letter in some fonts. Corner brackets, ★ and ♛ are the safest choices for everyone.

Crowns and gems for a VIP name are in the VIP emoji collection, and stars for a frame in the star symbols tray. Every collection sits under the symbol library on FancyTextTool.

Nickname symbol questions

What is a nickname symbol generator?

A tool that wraps your name in decorative characters. The one at the top of this page does it as you type, in 24 frames, using only standard Unicode characters — nothing is installed and no special font is needed.

Which nickname symbols work in every game?

None is guaranteed, because each game sets its own rules, but corner brackets 「 」, lenticular brackets 【 】, ★ and ♛ are accepted most often. Rare scripts and invisible characters are rejected most often.

Can I use nickname symbols in an Instagram or TikTok username?

No — those usernames accept only letters, numbers, dots and underscores. Use the symbols in your name or display name instead.
